Craig, Philip W. S.

Overview

Philip W. S. Craig was involved in the April 23, 2021 encounter at the Thorpes’ home. According to the family’s federal complaint, he put his foot in the doorway to prevent them from closing the door, then pushed it open and entered without a warrant. The Thorpes named him as a defendant in their federal lawsuit.

Employment

Officer Philip W. S. Craig worked for the American Fork Police Department from May 1, 2018, through October 2, 2021. During that employment, he was involved in the April 23, 2021, Janene Thorpe encounter. The Thorpes later named Craig as a defendant in a federal lawsuit filed in April 2023.

Craig began working for the Utah County Sheriff’s Office in October 2021. Public compensation records from 2022 through 2025 indicate that he continued working there through at least 2025.
