Employment

Darren J. Falslev worked for the American Fork Police Department from March 24, 1992, through September 29, 2021. He was promoted to lieutenant in 2001 and served in roles that included investigations division commander, public information officer, and work with the Utah County Major Crimes Task Force.

Falslev became interim police chief on May 25, 2016, and was appointed chief later that year. He remained chief until retiring from AFPD after nearly 30 years with the department. In 2018, the Utah Chiefs of Police Association named him Chief of the Year, and AFPD became the first police department in Utah County accredited by the association during his tenure.

Falslev’s retirement was specifically from AFPD rather than necessarily from law enforcement altogether. In 2023, public reporting described him as an investigator with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. His public professional profile subsequently identified him as a retired police chief, an adjunct criminal-justice instructor at Utah Valley University, and CAPSA’s director of emergency shelter services.
